Lovely. The underside of the wings reminds me of a Comma, but with its wings open it is quite unlike anything we have here. It must be amazing to live somewhere with such a variety of butterflies. I am still in awe of all of the different Crows you have photographed, not to mention how you managed to identify them all!!

I really love the little Jesters, although they are quite frustrating to chase and photograph. There is another one, this is also quite different, and I’d love to get it one day. As I said before, the Crows are not such a challenge for me to id. I struggle with the little Satyrs, the little yellows, some of the whites, and skippers. I have a tendency to leave them til the last, and end up dreading them…but I’ve been trying to overcome that, by making myself do them first…with mixed results! I do have a new book that is making it easier. It highlights the identifying marks in a photo. That is helpful, because although I can read enough characters to get the gist, I sometimes have a tiny bit of doubt about whether I’m really understanding, especially with scientific terms I don’t know.
