What a beauty. I love the sines of molten silver on the wings. We are starting to think about our family holiday for 2015!! Cyprus seems likely and there is a very similar butterfly occurring there – Apharitis acamas. I hope we are able to go and I manage to find one!

Nick, I would sure love to see it. I hope you get to go too! When will you start having butterflies in your area? I just saw the first whites here this week. Nothing else yet. It’s still pretty cold though. We just had one day of sun and they came out. And what about 2014? Any travel plans for this year? I am looking forward to seeing what you get this summer!

Hi Sylvia, The first butterflies appeared here early last week when the weather warmed up and the sun came out! I have only seen one so far, but I have had reports of three species. There has been nothing for about four days now as the sun has disappeared again! We should start to see whites appearing early next month.Family holiday this year will be to southern Spain. Always a compromise between what everyone wants and costs- wifi for kids, pool for wife, butterflies for me!! I hope to go walking in the (Spanish) Sierra Nevada where the butterflies are meant to be very interesting. Should also visit Gibraltar again, too. I would really love to visit SE Asia or Central America, but I think that will have to wait until the kids are independent!!

The same thing happened here…one day of sun, and back to cold and dreary. But soon…

Spain sounds glorious! I can hardly wait to see what you get. We have to leave twice a year for my visa, so I also try to choose someplace good for Wade, but with lots of butterflies for me. I think it’s perhaps easier in Asia, as there are so many cool places to go. We will go to Bali in June. Now I have to research the butterflies there, as I have no clue! You have it much easier on that front, I think. It’s hard for me to find resources in English for Asian butterflies. I’m looking forward to being a spectator at your butterflying season!
